Framus Star Bass 5/150 1970 – Sunburst

Description

A really nice 1970 Framus 5/150 Star Bass in beautiful Sunburst finish.

This bass is in very good-excellent condition with no dings, major scratches or damage. The finish is in excellent shape.

The pickups sound great and the controls and switches function. The switches have a bit of scratchiness which should be able to be cleaned up, I would think.

With it’s thin and narrow neck, these Star Basses are very easy and comfortable to play and the pickups provide lots of classic bass tone!

There are marks at the neck joint, as pictured. Not sure if the neck has been off at some point but the neck is straight, action is very good and playability is good.

Two of the knobs appear to be changed and one original appears to have been glued but is solid and works fine.

If you’re looking for a classic looking and sounding bass with lots of tone, this is it!

The Star Bass has become famous with Bill Wyman (Rolling Stones) playing them.

“Bill Wyman then went under contract with Dallas Ltd. (London) in 1964 to promote the Framus Star bass. The prospective superstar made this instrument famous worldwide – just like Paul McCartney did with the German Hofner bass equivalent. In the mid sixties Wyman predominantly played the Star bass model with the attached pickup plate and the big body – mostly with a round, but occasionally with the pointy cutaway. The Framus Star bass of this kind therefore was called at times ‘Stone Bass’.”
