This Lado R-1 would date to the early-mid 1980’s, I believe.
At this time Lado guitars was still a fairly small company with the majority of them being hand built and I believe this R-1 falls into this catagory. And with a serial number of 006, it’s a very early one within the pretty rare R-1 model line.
Condition of this Lado would be very good. It has a few signs of being played as can be seen in the photos.
Functionally, everything works as it should with the volume having just a slight bit of scratchiness occassionally, which I think could be cleaned up.
The frets and fretboard are in very good shape with just a little wear showing on the fretboard as shown in the photos.
The pickups are Bill Lawrence split rails from the mid 80’s. Original to guitar? Not sure but they sound amazing! This is a great sounding guitar.
Weight on this one is 9.1lbs.
With the gorgeous bird’s eye maple and distinctive body shape, this Lado is as cool looking as it is beautiful.
