Description

Here’s a pretty rare one!

This is a Yamaha RX5 Drum Machine.

The RX5 was Yamaha’s flagship drum machine launched in 1986 and was considered one of the best machines at the time.

Although maybe not as well known now as a couple of it’s competitors, the TR-808/TR909 or LinnDrum, the RX5 is certainly worth a look if you are searching for those vintage 80’s drum sounds!

The RX5 has many features that other drum machines don’t have. Aside from all of the basics, such as pitch adjustment, level control, etc., this machine also features “Attack” and “Decay” envelope controls and two levels of “Accent” for each sound, allowing you to really change the character of any of its 24 built-in sounds. The sounds range from surprisingly real and punchy kicks and snares, to gunshots, door slams, even guitar and bass samples.

Along with these, the RX5 has a ‘Reverse” and “Damp” feature allowing some very cool manipulations of the sounds.

Also, there is a built-in sequencer which will record up to 100 patterns.

In addition, the RX5 has a 12 channel mixer with stereo out plus 12 individual outputs along with full MIDI Implementation making it simple to integrate into your studio setup.

The RX5 was quite popular during the late ’80’s with artists such as Prince, Depeche Mode and The Cure using them.

This machine is in very good-excellent physical condition.

It powers up and seems to function and sound as it should. It has been tested and run through BUT, it has not had a complete going over.
